A touching reunion took place over the weekend for fans of the beloved series Gilmore Girls.
Lauren Graham, renowned for her role in the show, posted a charming selfie on Instagram featuring her onscreen mother, Kelly Bishop. The two were spotted together at the Shubert Theatre in NYC, where they celebrated a noteworthy musical event.
In her Instagram caption, Graham expressed her excitement: “It was beyond thrilling to get to introduce Ms. Kelly Bishop at the 50th Anniversary of A Chorus Line at the @shubertorg theater Sunday night. The performances were incredible, magical, inspiring!”
The talented Bishop, now 81, was part of the original Broadway cast of A Chorus Line back in 1975. This iconic musical showcases the auditions of 17 dancers with dreams of joining a chorus line. Fifty years later, numerous talented performers gathered at the very theater where it all started to honor Bishop and the acclaimed production.
Returning to the Gilmore Girls duo, Graham and Alexis Bledel were the heart of the show, embodying the unique mother-daughter relationship. While Graham’s interactions with Bishop, the unforgettable matriarch Emily Gilmore, often stole the scene.
In fact, the talented Bishop published a memoir in 2004 titled The Third Gilmore Girl, sharing stories from her experiences on set and insights into her extensive career. She’s also well-known for her role as “Baby” Houseman’s mother in the cherished movie Dirty Dancing (1987).
Amy Sherman-Palladino created the Gilmore Girls, which debuted on The WB on October 5, 2000, enjoying multiple seasons of success. Its popularity even led to a follow-up miniseries, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, landing on Netflix in November 2016.
