Big news for electric car lovers! Tesla just dropped its longest-range Model 3, officially listed in a recent regulatory filing in China, and it’s capable of going up to 515 miles on just one charge.

Along with this, we also got the first official range info on the six-seat Model Y L, as shared by CNEVPost (check it out here).

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in China is now featuring both these models among the hot new energy vehicles that are eligible for purchase tax exemptions. Pretty sweet, right?

The fresh Model 3 sedan tips the scales at 1,760 kgs, offering a range of either 497 miles or an astonishing 515 miles according to the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC). The car packs a hefty 78.4-kWh battery that weighs 448 kgs and provides an energy density of 175 Wh/kg.

Known as the Model 3+, this single-motor edition boasts a power increase to 225 kW, which is notable compared to the earlier model cranking out just 194 kW. This version is equipped with top-notch ternary lithium-ion cells sourced from South Korea’s LG Energy Solution.

Currently, Tesla’s offering in China includes a rear-wheel-drive Model 3 with lithium-iron-phosphate batteries from CATL as well as two all-wheel-drive variants utilizing LG’s ternary batteries. The range estimates for these cars clock in at 394 miles, 468 miles, and a lower 387 miles, with the new version breaking records by surpassing the previous high of 468 miles.

Since its launch at Tesla’s Shanghai plant in 2017, the Model 3 has been quite the success story with over 3 million units sold across the globe. However, things have slowed down a bit recently, with Tesla only managing to ship 48,803 Model 3s in the last quarter, far behind the 86,120 Model Ys produced, which are part of a total of 384,122 vehicle deliveries. That’s a 13.5% drop compared to last year, marking consecutive declines quarters.

The filing also shared cool details about the Model Y L, featuring an 82.0-kWh battery weighing in at 465 kg, and sporting a solid range of 467 miles under the CLTC. It gets its power through a dual-motor setup—142 kW at the front and 198 kW at the rear—both powered by LG’s ternary cells.

Tesla has announced that the six-seat Model Y L is set to launch in China this fall. Over there, the five-seat Model Y comes in a rear-wheel-drive variant starting at 263,500 yuan (around $36,691) and a long-range all-wheel-drive version kicking off at 313,500 yuan.

Looking at the buzz online, Tesla’s stock sentiment on Stocktwits has been trending ‘bullish’ even amid quieter message volumes.

If you’re following Tesla’s stock, it has seen a decline of 15% so far this year.
