Lizzo is back in the spotlight, and this time she’s taking on some pretty wild rumors! Recently, the singer posted a cheeky video on TikTok, where she playfully shot down speculation that she used the medication Ozempic to shed pounds.

Born Melissa Viviane Jefferson, Lizzo expressed her annoyance over constant chatter about her changing looks. In the TikTok clip, she has a humorous exchange showcasing what she credits her recent weight loss to.

For those who might not know, Ozempic is actually a diabetes drug that’s been gaining traction for off-label weight loss due to its main ingredient, semaglutide, which can help suppress your appetite.

In June, Lizzo revealed that although she experimented with Ozempic and similar medications, she’s no longer using them. However, that hasn’t stopped some folks from linking her two-year transformation to these drugs.

In the clip, Lizzo reenacts a convo asking her how she lost weight. She confidently lists her secrets: “Calorie deficit, regular cardio, prioritizing sleep, managing cortisol, and zero alcohol for months!”

Then the skeptical voice questions her, “So… it’s Ozempic, right?”

Lizzo rolls her eyes and firmly responds, “I didn’t use Ozempic.”

When confronted, she repeats the lifestyle changes she’s embraced, stressing the importance of her new habits. Her caption for the video simply said, “Hope this helps.”

This month, Lizzo also shared with Women’s Health how she’s learned to accept her body as it is. She defined body positivity as “a bold choice to proudly exist in a world that often tells you otherwise.”

She added: “I’m happy with my appearance now. Sure, I’m still considered plus-size and I have the same body features – just a leaner version.”

Interestingly, Lizzo mentioned she would embrace her journey no matter how she achieved her results, whether through diet, pills, or surgery, because let’s face it, achieving one’s ideal self isn’t a walk in the park.

“Anyone who’s ever moved through this large-body experience knows it can be tough,” she stated. “Just existing is challenging!”

On her Instagram, Lizzo shared her progress picture too, mentioning she now works out three times a week, switched to a diet inclusive of animal protein after being vegan, and hired a chef to help keep her meal prep and calorie counting in check.

Lizzo previously touched on how she felt pressure from fans who see her as a body positivity role model, explaining how her perspective transitioned from seeking body positivity to embracing body neutrality.

“I won’t pretend to love my body every single day,” she confessed to the New York Times back in March 2024. “It’s a dance, and your feelings change constantly.”

To give it some context, body positivity is about accepting all kinds of bodies, while body neutrality encourages people to shift the focus towards health instead of chasing a specific look or size.
