An LSU football player has recently turned himself in after authorities issued a warrant for his arrest, tied to an ongoing murder investigation. The charges state that he acted as an accessory by allowing suspects to stay in his dorm.
Running back JT Lindsey has been indefinitely suspended from the LSU Tigers football team. The U.S. Marshals Service arrested two murder suspects, Shemell Jacobs and Keldrick Jordan, in the LSU dorm just last Monday.
Jacobs and Jordan are wanted for the alleged murder of a 17-year-old in May, in Alexandria, Louisiana.
According to Lindsey’s attorney, Kris Perret, their client did not know that Jacobs and Jordan were fugitives while they were staying in his dorm.
In a statement, LSU informed People that Lindsey is “currently suspended from team activities.”
They added, “We are aware and won’t have any comment out of respect for the legal process.”
Reports from CBS Sports indicate that when Jacobs and Jordan were taken into custody, several weapons—including multiple AR-15 rifles—were found within the dorm.
The arrest warrant for Lindsey also alleges that he was aware of Jacobs and Jordan’s fugitive status and “knowingly harbored and aided” them.
Initially, Lindsey entered LSU as a highly-touted four-star recruit, ranking as the No. 4 high school football player in Louisiana, and the No. 7 running back in the nation according to 247Sports.
His enrollment adds to an impressive recruiting class for LSU and head coach Brian Kelly, earning a No. 7 overall ranking for the 2025 recruitment cycle, heralding a talented group of fresh talents set to join Baton Rouge.
The Tigers are trying to return to the College Football Playoff for the first time since their victorious 2019 season, where they enjoyed an unforgettable undefeated journey with stars like quarterback Joe Burrow and wide receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson.
Though it’s been some time since they claimed the title, the team is hopeful to qualify for the playoffs at the conclusion of the 2025 season.
As for Lindsey, his legal issues are certainly moving into the spotlight just as he prepares to kick off his college football journey.
