Let’s face it, long flights can drag on and feel endless. Luckily, with the rise of technology, travelers now have better entertainment options to keep themselves engaged mid-air, making those hours pass by much more smoothly.
This year, Delta Air Lines is stepping up its game when it comes to onboard entertainment. We’ve got some good news: dinner chats are about to include lots of new ways to pass the time during your journey!
On August 11, Delta joined forces with Crunchyroll, a popular subscription video service owned by Sony Group Corporation, to launch exciting new anime programs for its in-flight entertainment. If you’re unfamiliar, the Nashville Film Institute clarifies that “anime” refers to a distinctive Japanese style of animation, often effectively blending complex storytelling and artistry.
Later this year, passengers flying with Delta will be able to stream appealing shows selected by Crunchyroll directly on those comfy seats. Also, for SkyMiles members, there’s a sweet bonus: a 24-hour free trial of the streaming service that can be enjoyed either during your flight or after you land.
Rahul Purini, the President of Crunchyroll, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “There is nothing better on a long flight than immersing yourself in the rich storytelling and world-building of anime. Fans can go deep on one series or sample one episode of many series – from action to adventure, romance and more. And when they get hooked they can continue their experience on the Crunchyroll app. We are excited to share what we love with Delta passengers and reach new heights together.”
Julieta McCurry, Delta’s VP of In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity, remarked, “At Delta, we see each flight as a chance to explore. Whether you’re diving into the anime genre for the first time or continuing a beloved series, bringing Crunchyroll aboard means our customers have access to a world of stories while flying and beyond.”
Furthermore, she added, “It’s part of Delta’s drive to deliver top-tier entertainment that resonates with what our customers love.”
If you’re flying Delta later this year, prepare to be among the first to enjoy the surge of anime creativity soaring through the skies!
