Cold Case: 30-Year-Old Stabbing at Castro Valley Nightclub Revived by ACSO

(KRON) — The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) needs your help to crack a cold case that dates back almost three decades, stemming from a deadly stabbing at a nightclub in Castro Valley.

On that fateful night of August 8, 1998, Bhupinder Kumar, who was 31 at the time, was repeatedly stabbed in the chest after a verbal confrontation at the Muggs Night Club.

According to deputies, eyewitnesses reported that Bhupinder had an intense exchange with a male suspect in the parking lot before the situation escalated. Shortly after the confrontation, this individual returned with a woman, resulting in a physical altercation with Bhupinder.

Authorities provided a description of the suspect; he’s believed to be a Hispanic male, approximately 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing between 150 and 170 pounds. After the incident, he was last seen leaving the scene in a dark-colored SUV driven by a Black female.

So far, the motive behind Bhupinder’s tragic death remains unclear, and investigators are eager for any leads.
