Looks like Angelina Jolie is ready for a big change – she’s all set to sell her historic home in Los Angeles! A source revealed that the Maria actress is eyeing several locations abroad as she plans to officially list her property for sale.
Things You Should Know
- Angelina Jolie is gearing up to sell her iconic Los Angeles residence, with dreams of relocating overseas.
- Before putting her house on the market, she intends to make some minor updates to the estate.
- Although she has been living in the house she bought back in 2017, it’s suggested that her living situation was influenced by her custody arrangement with ex-husband Brad Pitt.
According to the insider, the 50-year-old star is finally moving forward with her plans to list her home for sale. Page Six was the first to report this news.
Jolie had always intended not to be a permanent resident of L.A., as the source mentions, saying, “She didn’t have a choice because of the custody arrangement with Brad,” referring to her ex Brad Pitt, who is currently 61.
After finalizing a divorce settlement in December 2024 – a lengthy eight-year ordeal – the former couple shares six kids: Maddox, 24; Pax, 21; Zahara, 20; Shiloh, 19; and twins Knox and Vivienne, 17.
As per insiders, Jolie is hoping to make the move as soon as Knox and Vivienne hit their 18th birthdays next year. “She’s got her sights set on multiple locations abroad and will be thrilled to move away from Los Angeles,” the source remarked.
Her Los Angeles home is described as nothing short of a “historic masterpiece,” showcasing how beautiful the estate truly is.
Another source confirmed that the Without Blood writer-director plans to list the home after touching it up a bit.
Jolie purchased this gorgeous 1913-built estate in 2017 for a whopping $24.5 million. The sprawling property features six bedrooms and ten bathrooms, covering a massive 11,000 square feet.
This place has deep Hollywood roots; it was originally bought by director Cecil B. DeMille in 1916 for under $28,000. Interestingly, comedienne Charlie Chaplin lived nearby before DeMille merged the two estates.
Earlier this year, Jolie shared her thoughts on her continued residency in Los Angeles despite wanting to leave soon. In a 2024 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she stated that she’s in L.A. because the divorce required her to be there.
Once her twins turn 18, the actress admitted she’s eager to experience life abroad as she seeks elements that L.A. doesn’t offer her family. “With a big family, you want them to have privacy, peace, and safety,” she explained. “Even though I have a house to raise my children, sometimes L.A. feels…” she trails off, hinting at a longing for something deeper, relating back to the humanity she noted could be found elsewhere.
Already, she’s planning to spend considerable time in Cambodia, where she adopted her eldest son, Maddox, back in 2002. She mentioned, “I’d love to visit my family wherever they are around the globe.” Jolie has often shared that Cambodia holds a special place in her heart and is where she feels most at home, a sentiment she discussed at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.
