If you’re thinking about diving into mobile gaming with the Pixel 10 Pro, you might want to think twice. Even though it’s a pricey device, the Pixel series has never been designed with mobile gaming as a top priority. People have typically bought Pixels for their exceptional build quality, advanced AI features, and some of the best smartphone cameras available.

You can definitely run games on the Pixel 10 Pro, but don’t expect to max out the settings. The main culprit here is the Tensor chip, which isn’t optimized for an exhilarating gaming experience. The Pixel 10 Pro serves as a stark reminder of how underwhelming Google’s latest smartphones can be for gaming.

Performance Woes of the Pixel 10 Pro According to Benchmarks

So, if gaming is on your wishlist, the Pixel 10 Pro might not live up to your expectations. A user named Iniysa on X recently shared their Geekbench 6 benchmark results for the device, and let’s just say it didn’t score well. The Vulkan scores were surprisingly low, below those of the Pixel 9 Pro when it was put through the same benchmark tests.

This suggests some disappointing news for potential gamers. Given its considerable price tag, that’s unfortunate for those who were hoping it could excel in mobile gaming. For avid gamers, this might lead to the need for purchasing a different device dedicated to gaming.

On the plus side, there might be a silver lining behind those low benchmark scores. A commenter on Iniysa’s post noted that the GPU frequency was quite low in the OpenCL benchmarks, suggesting there could be an issue with the GPU driver. If this theory holds, a patch might be issued to enhance performance, improving benchmark figures. However, we’ll have to wait until real games are tested and any fixes are rolled out to know for sure. In case this doesn’t deflate your enthusiasm, the Pixel 10 Pro is available for pre-order now, with the launch set for August 28.
