Recently, Becky Lynch, who holds the title of Women’s Intercontinental Champion, sat down with Cody Rhodes on his podcast called “What Do You Wanna Talk About?” to discuss an awkward experience she had with actor Chris Hemsworth.
The encounter took place back in 2009 at a Crunch Fitness in Chicago when Lynch was just 22. At that time, Hemsworth was not yet a household name in the U.S., two years before he burst onto the scene as Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, Lynch recognized him from the Australian soap opera “Home and Away,” where he played Kim Hyde.
Imagine the scene: Chris Hemsworth walks by, and Becky goes up to him saying, “Oh, you’re that guy from Home and Away!” But that wasn’t even the end of it. She awkwardly followed up with, “I bet nobody knows who you are over here.” Talk about secondhand embarrassment!

Fast forward a bit, and Chris starred in the Star Trek reboot shortly after, which shows just how quickly fame can change. That anecdote came up while Lynch and Rhodes were chatting about sci-fi, where Lynch also mentioned that she now will join Hemsworth in the Star Trek universe as a guest star on Paramount+’s “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy.” Wow, talk about a full circle!
Even though Lynch might have unintentionally insulted Hemsworth back then, it sure didn’t hold him back; the actor is now a huge star. Interestingly, there was a moment when he was supposed to get into wrestling for a Hulk Hogan biopic but that fell through in 2024 due to contractual issues.
Becky, who’s come a long way since that encounter, moved on from her career as a flight attendant to reach incredible heights in sports entertainment, even becoming the first woman to headline WrestleMania.
