Sophie Turner, known for her role in Game of Thrones, is not looking to head back to the US anytime soon.

In a candid chat with Flaunt, the 29-year-old actress opened up about her decision to return to England following her split from Joe Jonas last year.

Turner expressed her happiness living in the UK, where she’s surrounded by childhood pals. ‘I just feel so at home here; I never want to move again,’ the actress remarked, inheriting a flourishing life in London after leaving her hometown, Chesterton.

One key lesson she gained from the move revolves around the importance of friends and family. ‘Living in the States, I didn’t appreciate how much you need friends and family and how integral they are to your wellness until you’re away from them,’ she shared. ‘I came back with an abundance of appreciation for them.’

Turner made this big transition amidst the tension of her divorce from Jonas. During their five-year marriage, they faced a tumultuous custody battle over their two daughters, Willa, who’s four, and two-year-old Delphine. Fortunately, they found common ground to co-parent their kids.

Since returning, Turner was seen in the popular ITV series, Joan. After wrapping up, she enjoyed a celebratory party with her castmates, which led to some negative publicity questioning her parenting skills.

Responding to the critics, she asserted, ‘It’s like, ‘Yeah, mothers, you can work now guys, you don’t have to stay at home, but like God forbid you have a social life.” This stigma against working mothers, she believes, is still prevalent.

She reflected on some uncomfortable press surrounding her actions as a mother. ‘It was horrific,’ she lamented.

Previously, in her British Vogue feature last year, the Dark Phoenix star discussed the backlash following her divorce, including being labeled a “party girl” for allegedly neglecting her motherhood duties for nights out.

‘Those were the worst few days of my life,’ she recounted. ‘My kids were in the States, and I couldn’t get to them because I had to finish Joan. And all these articles started coming out.’

‘It hurt because I really do completely torture myself over every move I make as a mother – mum guilt is so real! I kept having to remind myself: ‘None of this is true. You are a good mum and you’ve never been a partier,’ she added.

By September 2024, Turner completed her divorce proceedings, with a judge declaring their marriage “irretrievably broken.”
