Good morning to everyone!
According to reports from the Pentagon shared with ABC News, there are plans underway to send national guard troops to Chicago.
This revelation comes from Hakeem Jeffries, who leads the Democrats in the House, making a statement earlier today. He criticized Donald Trump, suggesting he ‘manufactured a crisis’ to justify the federal deployment of national guard troops to Chicago, sidelining local officials.
Typically, national guard troops fall under the command of state governments. They’re called upon by state governors in emergencies, while federal deployment is mostly reserved for serious crises.

Department Response: A Department of Defense official told ABC, “We can’t speculate on future operations. Our department primarily engages in planning and collaborates continuously with other agencies to ensure the safety of federal resources and individuals.”
-
Any Additional Plans? According to Pentagon representatives speaking to Fox News, as many as 1,700 national guard members might be mobilized across 19 states, most of which lean Republican, to support Trump’s anti-immigration measures.
