Traffic Stop Uncovers Drugs and Gun in Richmond

(KRON) — This week in Richmond, a routine traffic stop at the intersection of 18th Street and Chanslor Avenue revealed some unsettling discoveries when officers pulled over a driver who turned out to be a convicted felon.

Upon questioning, the driver admitted to having ammunition but denied the presence of a firearm in the vehicle, according to the Richmond Police. However, a search of the car quickly contradicted this claim, as officers found a loaded handgun along with a significant stash of drugs packed for sale, such as cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, MDMA, and marijuana.

Richmond PD took to social media to express their surprise (or lack thereof): “To everyone’s surprise (not really), a search revealed a loaded firearm hidden away. But that wasn’t all — officers also discovered an alarming stash of drugs.”

The driver has been arrested and is facing multiple charges related to drug possession and illegal weaponry.

Richmond Police noted, “This proactive action means fewer drugs and one less gun on our streets, making our community a safer place.”
