After ten long years since a drive-by shooting that shook the Bayview District and claimed two lives, the San Francisco Police Department has made an arrest. The announcement came on Tuesday, according to a release.
Back on January 27, 2015, police were called to the scene at the corner of Revere Avenue and Ingalls Street. There, they found a woman suffering from gunshot wounds. Sadly, despite being rushed to the hospital, she did not survive. It wasn’t until police arrived at Bayshore Boulevard and Oakdale Avenue that they found a second victim, a man shot multiple times in the passenger seat of a vehicle, who also died shortly after.
Investigators recently secured an arrest warrant for the suspect, 34-year-old Anthony Tyree, also known by the nickname Dot Diggla. Law enforcement apprehended him on August 18 at his home in Pittsburg, where they confiscated an AR-15 rifle.
According to court statements from the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office, Tyree was involved in the shooting from a Dodge pickup truck, targeting a black Infiniti. This assault ended with one man dead and another injured. Tragically, a stray bullet fatally struck a woman standing outside her home—the 32-year-old Maria Lourdes Soza—who was monitoring her children at play.
“This tragedy has devastated my family,” expressed Jose Soza, Maria’s father, seeking public assistance in finding those responsible during a 2015 plea. “If anyone has any leads, please call the inspector.”
Currently, Tyree faces multiple serious charges, including two counts of murder and attempted murder, along with illegal firearm possession. Despite this capture, authorities remind the public that the investigation continues, urging anyone with information to contact the SFPD at 415-575-4444.
