SpaceX Hits a Milestone!
On August 27th, SpaceX took to the skies once again, this time with its Falcon 9 rocket, successfully launching from the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. The mission saw the addition of 28 Starlink satellites into low Earth orbit.
The Falcon 9 journey commenced at 7:10 a.m. under great weather conditions, with an 80% chance of favorable elements supporting the launch. This flight made use of the Falcon 9’s first-stage booster, tail number 1095, marking its second flight.
After liftoff, the rocket’s first stage landed perfectly at 7:18 a.m. on a SpaceX drone ship named “Just Read the Instructions.” What’s interesting is that this time around, unlike a prior launch, no sonic booms were reported over the Space Coast.
Following this successful launch, FAA officials are set to gather at the Kennedy Space Center this Thursday to discuss upcoming environmental impacts related to the Starship-Super Heavy launches and landings. Community feedback is welcome, especially as these exciting developments continue to unfold.
