Fox News Unveils Weekend Shake-Up: New Show for Kayleigh McEnany and Replacement for Pete Hegseth

Fox News has announced that they’re making some pretty big moves this weekend. Pete Hegseth will be stepping back, and the cable network is giving former Trump press secretary Kayleigh McEnany her very own show.

Set your calendars—starting Saturday, September 20, Fox is rolling out a revamped lineup. Griff Jenkins is taking over as the new cohost for “Fox & Friends Weekend” (6 to 10 a.m. ET) on Saturdays and Sundays, while McEnany will be hosting a fresh two-hour show titled “Saturday in America” starting at 10 a.m. ET.

Currently, McEnany is a cohost on the show “Outnumbered” on Fox. Her rise began when she became the press secretary for President Donald Trump from April 2020 until January 2021 and she’s known for her savvy dealing with the media.

Interestingly, she also mentored Karoline Leavitt, the current White House Press Secretary, who seems to be following in McEnany’s footsteps when engaging with the press.

In more program changes, senior White House correspondents Peter Doocy — son of “Fox & Friends” host Steve Doocy — and Jacqui Heinrich, who is engaged to Pennsylvania Representative Brian Fitzpatrick, will be cohosting a new show called “The Sunday Briefing” (11 a.m. ET). They will alternate hosting duties on it each week.

As for “The Big Weekend Show,” it’s expanding to a three-hour show on weekends (5 to 8 p.m. ET) with two out of four new co-hosts being Fox where you’ll see retired Marine Johnny Joey Jones and conservative pundit Tomi Lahren.

You’ll recall that back in November, Trump proposed Hegseth as a nominee for the U.S Department of Defense. Trump praised him, saying, “With Pete at the helm, America’s enemies are on notice—Our Military will be Great Again, and America will Never Back Down.” He eventually secured his nomination amidst some questions and got a 51-50 confirmation vote with Vice President JD Vance casting the deciding vote.

The programming shake-ups were planned before the September 10 shooting of Charlie Kirk, a conservative figure and notable Trump ally, at an event at Utah Valley University. Just 31 years old, Kirk was a father and had guest-hosted earlier this summer, even having a touching moment captured on video when his daughter ran to him during his time on air.
