AUSTIN, Texas (KXAN) — A shocking video surfaced recently showing an individual mocking the death of Charlie Kirk during a memorial service. In response, Texas State University announced that this person is “no longer enrolled” at their institution.
Texas State took immediate action after acknowledging the incident in a statement on Tuesday. University President Dr. Kelly Damphousse indicated that authorities were actively working to identify the person responsible for this highly disturbing act.
In the footage posted on X, the person allegedly made derogatory comments, saying, “Charlie Kirk got hit in the neck b***h.” This comment prompted backlash from university officials, who stated that such conduct that “trivializes or promotes violence” is reprehensible and goes against the values upheld by Texas State.
If it’s confirmed that the person was affiliated with the university, appropriate consequences will be applied, as reaffirmed in the statement from Texas State.
On Tuesday, Damphousse updated the public via a post on X, sharing that they have successfully identified the individual in question. He reiterated his strong stance against such mockery of violence on campus, confirming that this individual has now been removed from Texas State.

In social media responses to the incident, Governor Greg Abbott urged Texas State University to expel the student involved in the viral video, remarking, “Hey Texas State. This conduct is not accepted at our schools. Expel this student immediately. Mocking assassination must have consequences.”(post on X)

Governor Abbott also acknowledged this incident, stating, “This is what happened to the person who was mocking Charlie Kirk’s assassination at Texas Tech. [F*** Around, Find Out.]”(post on X)
Additionally, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) reported receiving approximately 180 complaints regarding educators making inappropriate posts about Kirk’s assassination on social media.
