The Summer I Turned Pretty is stirring up quite a buzz! Showrunner and author Jenny Han recently laid down some intriguing details about how they managed to keep the final episodes under wraps from eager fans.
Heads up: Spoilers ahead!
During a chat with Entertainment Weekly on September 18, Han disclosed that they filmed some fake scenes featuring Isabel “Belly” Conklin (Lola Tung) and Jeremiah Fisher (Gavin Casalegno) having a reunion in Paris. The objective? To have fans buzzing about the plot online and guessing what’s next.
She mentioned, “We had Gavin flown to Paris to capture some scenes because I’m all about keeping surprises for the fans. It’s super tough to keep things secret, especially with how social media works these days.”
Casalegno chimed in about the experience, sharing how he was shocked when he got the call to shoot these fake scenes in Paris.
“I thought, ‘I don’t even know why, but sure! I’m totally in,’ ” he recalled, revealing he spent about a week or two in Paris and had an amazing time.
Though these scenes won’t make it into the actual show, Casalegno extended his amusement that people leaned out their balconies, recording them during filming. He quipped that he felt “like a CIA agent” during the process.
What Goes Down in the Last Episode of The Summer I Turned Pretty?
Following their canceled wedding, Belly and Jeremiah aren’t reuniting in Paris after all, only managing to chat over the phone weeks later.
In the final episode, Conrad Fisher (Chris Briney) surprises Belly in Paris for her birthday before heading to a conference in Brussels. They explore the city together, reconnecting in an adorable way, and Belly even invites him to her pre-birthday bash.
Belly introduces Conrad to her friends in Paris, and they share some sweet moments. Once alone, they enjoy a slow dance next to the Seine River, leading to a kiss and a passionate encounter. After an emotional heart-to-heart, where Conrad admits he’s still into her, Belly sends him off to catch his train but quickly realizes she made a mistake and rushes to confess her feelings.
In the end, Belly and Conrad choose to be together, and the season wraps up with the couple heading back to the summer house in Cousins.

As per Variety, Han is on board to pen the script, and the movie will wrap up the storyline for the hit YA series.
