- My husband and I have journeyed through several regions of the United States together.
- The suburbs of southeastern Pennsylvania have captured our hearts as our permanent base.
- The blend of seasons, amazing food, and mix of nature and city life make it the perfect place for us.
Thanks to my husband’s career moves, I’ve had the unique chance to experience different parts of the U.S. over the years.
His job meant we had opportunities to relocate often, taking us to diverse locales like Massachusetts, Louisiana, and Maryland.
While we adored each place for its own reasons, one state stood out to us once he decided to change careers: Pennsylvania.
Let me share why we’ve fallen in love with this charming corner of the country.
The Appeal of Four Mild Seasons
Having tried out various climates, I’ve found that I truly cherish the four-season experience of the Mid-Atlantic region.
I once loved the heat of Louisiana, but after hitting a certain age, I discovered I’m not as fond of the scorching summers.
Massachusetts has its charming seasonal changes but those biting New England winters can be overwhelmingly biting.
In southeastern Pennsylvania, winters offer a delightful mix of snowfall, flowers blooming in spring, and gorgeous autumn colors—while summer still lets us enjoy tank tops and flip-flops!
Easy Access to Nature and Urban Life
The varied landscapes of the Mid-Atlantic give us breathtaking views and endless activity options.
Want to ski or try fishing? Just a two-hour drive north takes me to the stunning Poconos. And when it heats up, the beaches of the Jersey Shore are just an easy two-hour ride away.
Add an hour or two, and I can explore fantastic coastal towns along the Atlantic in Delaware or Maryland. A quick hour brings me to lively Philadelphia, where I can catch a game or concert, and New York City is only two hours away!
My husband and I love hopping on a train or driving up for a day of Broadway fun, museum visits, or sampling every cuisine imaginable.
Additionally, Pennsylvania’s farming scene is prominent, particularly in our Bucks County neighborhood.
This means I can hit up local farmers markets for fresh, seasonal produce, delicious bread, and homemade goodies.
It’s a great way to support local farmers while enjoying a lovely food outing—it’s also the perfect chance to grab coffee and a snack while shopping!
And don’t think our suburban town is boring… There’s always a concert, festival, art show, or other activities keeping the vibe alive.
An Abundance of Food Choices
While nothing tops the seafood of New England or the comfort food of the South, the varied culinary treasures of the Mid-Atlantic hold their own.
Our town boasts an impressive array of restaurants, from fine dining spots and cozy cafes to bakeries galore. We easily grab bites from Italian to Korean cuisine, and so much more!
Plus, we cherish our local specialties like pretzels, cheesesteaks, and hoagies. With all the choices so close by, we can travel to Philadelphia to enjoy even more excellent dining options or venture to New York City for traditional dishes and Michelin-star experiences.
And since Maryland rights next door, we can indulge in fresh crab and seafood boils whenever the mood strikes!
Why Living Here Simply Feels Right
I have an unwavering love for Pennsylvania. Being born and raised nearby, returning brings me the joy of reconnecting with family.
Yet familiarity isn’t the sole reason we adore it here—there are extraordinary experiences waiting in this beautiful state and the surrounding areas.
Our region beautifully combines diverse communities and climates—whether cities, suburbs, mountain getaways, or country landscapes, it caters to every taste.
Though I’ve loved living in different parts of the U.S., I truly consider the Keystone State my home. I absolutely have no regrets about embracing this Mid-Atlantic slice of heaven as our forever home.
