In a recent sting operation in Blaine, authorities nabbed 22 adults for trying to engage in sexual activities with what they thought was an underage girl.
According to the Blaine Police Department, undercover officers, posing as a minor, communicated through text with over 460 potential suspects. This operation aimed to root out individuals looking to exploit children for sex in exchange for money.
The outcome? A total of 22 people showed up at a designated spot near Lexington Avenue and Main Street, clearly intending to pay for sexual acts with a minor, as highlighted in a police press release.
These arrests took place on September 3 and 4, with each suspect facing serious charges for soliciting a child for sexual conduct, categorized as a felony. While police haven’t disclosed their identities, all suspects were booked and later released, pending court appearances.
Blaine Deputy Chief Joe Gerhard emphasized the department’s serious commitment to shielding children from exploitation, stating, “This operation shows our ongoing dedication to safeguarding children.” He also expressed appreciation for the collaboration with partner agencies, noting that teamwork was crucial in making this operation a success.
