  • On October 7, Sabrina Carpenter will make her debut performance.
  • Many fans are puzzled by this choice.

The Grand Ole Opry, a legendary spot in the country music scene, is hitting the century mark, still bringing the freshest talent to its stage. However, a recent reveal has left many fans confused.

It all started on September 19 when the Opry’s Instagram dropped some big news: On October 7, Sabrina Carpenter, that popular singer from the Disney days, will perform live! At just 26, she already has two Grammys under her belt, but remember, she’s more of a pop artist who’s just released her seventh album.

The official announcement read, “Oh, boy! @sabrinacarpenter is making her Opry debut! The two-time Grammy-award-winning global superstar just released her 7th studio album ‘Man’s Best Friend’ and we can’t wait to welcome her to the Opry stage on October 7. See you soon, Sabrina!”

Since then, the comments section on social media exploded with reactions. Fans were spotted asking things like, “I love her, but what’s she doing at the Opry? 😂” and expressing concerns such as, “I’m a fan of Sabrina, but she doesn’t fit in here.” One individual even went so far as to call the decision a “disgrace to country music.”

Yet, there are other fans who are thrilled! They note that Sabrina’s music features country influences and her collaboration with Dolly Parton on the song “Please Please Please.” Let’s also remember that the Opry has history with artists from various genres, including big names like Paramore and Pharrell Williams.

Despite all this excitement, it’s important to understand that being part of the Opry is a unique honor geared towards country stars. The official site explains, “Those overseeing the Opry’s legacy consider various aspects like radio play, music sales, touring success, and industry acclaim when thinking of adding a new member to the Opry.”

When Sabrina takes the stage on October 7, she won’t be going solo; she’ll be joined by Kaitlin Butts, Kameron Marlowe, and Laci Kaye Booth. For those wanting to join in on the fun, tickets can be secured through the Opry website.
