Theo Von Calls Out DHS: “Keep Me Out of Your Deportation Clips!”

Comedian, actor, and popular podcaster Theo Von is making headlines after asking the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to remove a clip that seemingly misrepresents his stance on mass deportations.

In a candid tweet on Tuesday, he expressed his discomfort: “Yooo DHS, I didn’t sign off on this. I know my address, so send me a paycheck for this. Please take it down and keep me out of your ‘banger’ deportation videos. My views on immigration are way more nuanced than this clip shows. Bye!” You can check it out here.

The 31-second video from DHS kicks off with a historical clip of Von saying, “Heard you got deported, dude – bye.” Then, it transitions into a promotion for President Donald Trump’s take on the immigration deportation efforts during his second term.

Theo isn’t the first celebrity to raise alarms about being included without consent in DHS-related content. Artists like Semisonic and Jess Glynne have previously objected when their music was used in anti-immigration videos.

Notably, this pushback from Von comes just before a tragic incident where a shooting occurred at a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office in Dallas on Wednesday, ultimately resulting in one fatality and two individuals in serious condition. The shooter reportedly took their own life.

As the host of This Past Weekend, Von invites high-profile guests like Trump and Bernie Sanders for intriguing conversations. His Netflix specials, No Offense and Regular People, have gained fan-favorite status.

In his statements, Von emphasized that his immigration views are more intricate than what the DHS clip portrayed, reflecting a broader, nuanced political viewpoint that comes through on his podcast, which blends honest dialogue with humor.

On the creative front, Von has teamed up with David Spade for a new buddy comedy titled Busboys. They’ve co-written the film set in an Arizona border town, where the lead characters think that becoming waiters will miraculously solve all their issues, under the direction of Jonah Feingold.
