Regular House Cleaner in Dundee Charged with Theft of Valuables

A Dundee lady known for her house cleaning services has recently been arrested on serious theft charges. Glenda Denice Layne, 57, stands accused of making off with a firearm and jewelry from a residence on Camp Mack Road, with these crimes occurring sometime between mid-August and late September.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office got involved and linked Layne to the theft after the homeowners flagged their missing items. Notably, the victims mentioned they are usually at home, claiming that there were no signs of forced entry—leading them to single out Layne, who frequently came by to clean.

After the theft, the victims were unable to reach Layne, as she had not returned to their home or picked up their calls.

The investigation took a turn when a detective noticed that Layne had pawned several pieces of jewelry on multiple occasions: specifically on August 29, and September 9 through 11. The victims confirmed that the retrieved items were indeed theirs.

As a result, law enforcement secured an arrest warrant for Layne. She is now facing multiple felony charges, including:

  • Grand Theft valued between $10,000 and $20,000 (F3)
  • Grand Theft – Firearm (F3)
  • Dealing in Stolen Property (two counts, F2)
  • Providing False Owner Information for Pawned Items worth $300 or more (two counts, F2)
