Before diving into all the exciting AI features, let’s chat about the hardware that you’ll actually be using. The Honor Magic8 Pro sports a 6.71-inch OLED display, featuring an eye-popping 120Hz refresh rate. To up the ante, the screen can reach a peak brightness of an astounding 6,000 nits—better bring your sunglasses!

Under the hood, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 works its magic, marking just the second phone rollout with this chipset after the Xiaomi 17 series. It also packs a punch with 12GB of RAM and a hefty 512GB of storage space.

On the photography front, you’ve got a triple camera setup: a 50MP main shooter, another 50MP wide-angle, and a whopping 200MP telephoto lens that delivers 3.7x optical zoom. Both the main and telephoto cams rock optical image stabilization (OIS), while the wide-angle one serves a cool macro mode.

And when it comes to power, a massive 7,100mAh silicon-carbon battery has got your back, supporting both wired and wireless charging options. But for the folks in Europe, the battery capacity will get dialed down to 6,270mAh when it finally hits that market.

Unleashing Honor AI

Honor is really pushing the AI features as a reason to pick up the Magic8 Pro, and there are indeed some cool functionalities to take note of. The Honor AI agent can be activated using a special AI Button and is built to help you with basic tasks, all in casual conversation style.

For instance, you can ask it to sift through your blurry photos and delete them or summarize expenso reports to shoot over to your work. Honor claims it can understand a whopping 3,000 different contexts!

The AI Button not only serves as a quick access point but also allows for visual searches with your camera. Plus, there’s an AI Video Call feature that lets you chat about what you’re capturing in real-time with the AI agent.

Apart from that, Honor’s AI enhances photography experience by optimizing colors in your shots with Magic Color and generates unique filters based on photos you reference. It also helps you’ll avoid shaky images in telephoto mode!

On the Horizon

Currently, Honor has introduced the Magic8 Pro and an array of other Magic8 series devices in China, powered by their own Yoyo assistant AI.

Global release of Magic 8 Pro is on the cards before the year’s end, and it’s likely to roll out with Google Gemini. Do bear in mind that not all the features we discussed may be active right away. Also, note that Honor’s phones aren’t available in the U.S.
