On Sunday, Morgan County law enforcement took a significant step by apprehending 48-year-old Adelaido Jimenez Barrientos, who now faces serious allegations including three counts of murder. According to FOX54, this arrest follows over three years after he was indicted for his role in a fatal accident that occurred in November 2020.
Barrientos was implicated in the death of 55-year-old Tammaria “Tammy” Martin, who sadly lost her life in this incident.
Indictment Insights
The recent arrest does not reveal many specifics, but legal documents from the earlier indictment shed light on the accusations against Barrientos. The Morgan County Grand Jury determined that he recklessly engaged in life-threatening behavior leading to Martin’s death by colliding with her vehicle.
Notably, the indictment also points to Barrientos being under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash, with blood alcohol levels reported to be at least 0.08 percent, which intensifies the legal consequences he might face under Alabama law.
Bail Status
Barrientos is currently detained with a bond set at $50,000, a figure established during his 2022 indictment. Moreover, prison records confirm there is an ICE detainer associated with his case.
The charges comprise three murder counts; however, only one victim is recognized in the legal proceedings. As of Monday afternoon, there has yet to be any scheduled court appearance for Barrientos.
Law enforcement testimony on this case includes various Decatur Police Department officers, Decatur Fire Department members, ambulance crews, and other emergency responders involved.
