Dean Lewis, the Australian singer known for his hit ‘Waves’, is feeling the weight of a recent controversy surrounding his treatment of female fans.

After accusations from several women claiming that his actions caused discomfort or pain, Lewis took to social media to express his regrets. He acknowledged the release of private conversations from over a decade of his life, admitting, “I don’t blame these women for their feelings; I’ve been incredibly thoughtless in my past interactions.” He emphasized, however, that all parties involved were consenting adults.

Lewis clarified that while some of the information circulating about him may not be accurate, he’s deeply impacted by the suggestions of illegal behavior: “It hurts knowing that people think I’ve crossed a line into illegal territory. I realize the mess I’ve created and the pain I’ve caused, and I fully intend to make necessary changes in my life.”

Expressing his sincere apologies, he said, “From the depths of my heart, I’m sorry to everyone I’ve wronged—both those who have spoken up and those who haven’t. I’ve also let down my fans and family.”

He mentioned that he plans to engage in “intense therapy” to greatly improve how he navigates relationships and interacts with women moving forward. Furthermore, he noted that he will establish a clear set of guidelines to ensure that future interactions with fans won’t lead to mixed signals or misunderstandings.

Lewis shared that fame had driven him to feelings of loneliness, and in seeking validation, he often found himself in troubling situations. Now, he hopes to take a step back and focus on himself: “Although it may be too soon to request forgiveness, I aim to regain the trust of those I’ve hurt and to become a better person moving forward.”

Dean Lewis has made a name for himself in the music industry with songs featured in TV series like Riverdale, Suits, and Grey’s Anatomy, along with multiple albums and award nominations.
