Lesley Maxwell, a 65-year-old fitness trainer from Melbourne, has turned heads with her stunning physique, claiming to feel more youthful now than she did in her 40s. She recently opened up about how minor lifestyle changes have rejuvenated her body and spirit, allowing her to flaunt washboard abs that catch the attention of younger guys sliding into her DMs.
In her own words, she said, ‘Many people resist aging, but there’s no need to give in. I’m in the best shape of my life and feel ageless.’ Her claim is no exaggeration; she often shares her fitness journey with almost 150,000 followers on Instagram, showcasing her ability to perform chin-ups and lift heavy weights.
One critical component of her regimen is a version of the carnivore diet she refers to as ‘carnivore plus,’ which she believes is tailored specifically for women, providing better results compared to the traditional approach. ‘A simple tweak in my diet coupled with minor adjustments in my workouts sparked amazing results,’ she explained.
She elaborated on how the traditional carnivore diet, which minimizes calorie counting, features foods high in fat and protein. This fad diet gained popularity after influencer The Liver King popularized it, amassing over a billion views on TikTok.
However, replacing beef and pork isn’t risk-free; studies link excessive red meat consumption to various health issues while experts argue whether processed and unprocessed meats impact this connection differently. Lesley’s approach under the ‘carnivore plus’ concept involves smaller, more digestible meals focusing on high protein intake. She typically consumes four to five meals a day, with each providing 20 to 25g of complete protein, vital for muscle maintenance.
The NHS supports meat as a necessity for muscle growth, citing it as an excellent source of protein along with iron, zinc, and B vitamins, recommending lean cuts while advising against excessive intakes.
While there’s negligible data on the ‘carnivore plus’ style she advocates, Lesley asserts it’s instrumental in her impressive results which pair well with her vigorous workouts—primarily weight training, which she enjoys both physically and mentally. ‘There are no shortcuts; the journey demands commitment to working out,’ she affirms, emphasizing the significance of community in gyms.
However, without quick fixes, Lesley underscores that a ‘revenge body’ comes from sheer determination. ‘I wish there were an easy hack, but honestly, this lifestyle is something you’ll come to love,’ she adds. ‘Training uplifts our mood, and working out alongside like-minded folks adds to the joy. You never know who you’ll meet along the way!’
When she isn’t busy sharing glimpses of her workouts online, Ms. Maxwell aims to inspire women pursuing their fitness transformations, promoting the idea that anyone, regardless of age, can achieve their desired body. ‘The ‘revenge body’ mantra is there to remind us that we shouldn’t heed skeptics—anyone can be fit and empowered at any age,’ she concluded.
