Exciting news! Li Auto is set to launch its Livis AI glasses on December 3. This new wearable is designed to work alongside their Mind GPT assistant. CEO Li Xiang believes it’s going to be their best AI accessory yet, and they’ve even hinted at creating an AI speaker in the future!

In what seems like an ambitious push, Li Auto is looking to expand its AI presence beyond just their cars. On Thursday, just after announcing the smart glasses, the company’s shares jumped nearly 2% in mid-afternoon trading in Hong Kong. The Livis glasses aim to be a cool new way for users to integrate AI into their daily lives.

Livis AI Glasses Set to Launch on December 3

The Livis smart glasses will be revealed during an evening event in Beijing on December 3. These innovative glasses will function like a wearable version of the Lixiang Tongxue virtual assistant, which utilizes Mind GPT technology to answer family questions, offer creative help, and even feature a ‘Children Mode,’ according to a report by CnEVPost.

The Livis name draws inspiration from Marvel’s Jarvis, the well-known smart assistant of Iron Man, highlighting Li Auto’s goal to create a friendly, ever-present AI companion in everyday life. CEO Li Xiang previewed these glasses in a recent video and proudly stated they are the company’s best AI accessory so far.

Expanding AI Offerings Beyond Automobiles

In a bid to get more users engaging with their AI capabilities, LiAuto is hoping Livis will function outside of cars. They’re also considering the introduction of an AI speaker, though Li Xiang made it clear that Li Auto won’t be venturing into the smartphone market, as the Lixiang Tongxue app is already mobile-friendly.

Li has consistently emphasized that the company’s vision extends beyond just manufacturing vehicles; they want to position themselves as a key player in the global AI market, seeing cars as innovative spatial robots tailored for a new era.

Building on Past Wearable Experience

The move to dive into wearables follows Li Auto’s earlier experiments with in-car smart glasses through a 2022 partnership with TCL’s Leiniao Technology. This collaboration helped introduce augmented reality experiences into their vehicles, showcasing Leiniao Air XR glasses that offered a virtual 140-inch screen for a true cinema experience within the car.

Seeing What Competitors Are Up To in the AI Space

Li Auto isn’t the only player getting into the AI game; the entire EV sector is rapidly advancing its capabilities in custom chips, robotics, and proprietary AI hardware. For instance, Tesla’s current AI4 chip can process a million video pixels in just a millisecond due to its cutting-edge design. CEO Elon Musk recently shared plans for improved chips, noting that they’re on the verge of finalizing the AI5 while simultaneously working on AI6, hoping for annual updates going forward.

XPeng is also pushing forward with their own AI initiatives. At their 2025 AI Day, they introduced their humanoid robot called Iron, showcasing realistic movements and powered by their second-generation VLA model and in-house Turing AI chips delivering a whopping 2,250 TOPS. This robot can walk, hold conversations, and complete interactive tasks, all fueled by advanced battery technology for enhanced safety and efficiency.
