It’s no secret that President Donald Trump loves to share stories about the lavish $300 White House Ballroom, which has sparked quite a bit of debate over time. In a recent chat with the media, he let slip that he and First Lady Melania Trump often have different reactions to the annoying sounds of construction going on there. ‘Every time I hear them, I love the sound,’ Trump shared, adding, ‘I wouldn’t say my wife is thrilled.’
President Trump went on to explain that Melania is often complaining about the constant noise. ‘She hears piledrivers all day and all night,’ he remarked.
Defending what he called the ‘finest ballroom ever built,’ Trump described the noisy renovations continuing late into the night. He humorously recounted an earlier conversation with Melania where she asked him, ‘Darling, could you turn off the piledrivers?’ to which he apologized, saying, ‘Sorry, darling. That’s progress. But no, we’re doing great. I really believe it’s going to be amazing.’
After the East Wing of the White House was torn down, some media outlets reported that Melania expressed her concerns privately about the demolition. This year, she was notably absent from many of her FLOTUS obligations, prompting Internet users to comment on her lack of presence. One pointed out, ‘She doesn’t even live there,’ while another observer criticized, ‘Not sure how she hears that when she’s rarely around.’
This sentiment echoed across social media as netizens made rather cheeky remarks: ‘She can’t hear it all the way from New York,’ and ‘She doesn’t even live there full-time.’
In a recent interview, Trump was questioned about claims that Melania didn’t like the renovation idea. He responded saying that she missed her ‘little tiny office,’ but quickly asserted, ‘You know what? She’s very smart. If you’d ask her now, she would say it’s great.’
Furthermore, Trump remarked that he could have preserved the old ballroom but opted for this route to create ‘one of the greatest ballrooms in the world.’
While Melania has yet to make formal remarks on the destruction of the East Wing, a report from the Wall Street Journal cited unnamed sources saying that she had quiet worries about the move. The Journal noted, ‘Everyone seems to have an opinion about the project, including first lady Melania Trump, who privately shared she wasn’t keen on tearing down the East Wing.’
The White House recently announced that public tours will restart this month, with Melania’s Christmas decorations, themed ‘Home Is Where the Heart Is,’ highlighting the events. The new tour will include an updated route for guests.
The festive setup this year showcases 51 spectacular Christmas trees, 2,000 lights, and a stunning gingerbread White House made from 120 pounds of gingerbread.
Teasing the upcoming decorations, Melania shared on social media, ‘This Christmas, let’s celebrate the love we hold within ourselves and share it with the world around us. After all, wherever we are, we can create a home filled with endless possibilities.’
On a professional note, Melania is looking forward to the release of her own documentary and recently announced her production company, Muse Films.
