In a shocking incident in Colorado, Eduardo Parra-Corral has been charged in connection with a fatal crash that claimed the life of 27-year-old Jasmine Faith Carpio. Reports indicate that he was driving at speeds exceeding 100 mph, allegedly while under the influence of alcohol.
According to a spokesperson from the Greeley Police Department, “This accident resulted in the heartbreaking loss of Jasmine Carpio, a member of our community. While we cannot comment on Mr. Parra-Corral’s immigration status, we are fully dedicated to conducting a thorough and fair investigation.”
Tricia McLaughlin, the Assistant Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), stated, “On November 9, Eduardo Parra-Corral, a criminal illegal alien from Mexico, was apprehended by local authorities after allegedly running a red light while drunk and speeding. Unfortunately, he hit and killed a 27-year-old woman. He was taken into custody by ICE on November 10, deported by November 25, and no longer presents a risk to the general public.”
As reports surface about the proceedings surrounding Parra-Corral’s deportation, state prosecutors are determining their next steps regarding the case.
This incident has also triggered renewed discussions about the relationship between local law enforcement and ICE in Colorado. Douglas County District Attorney George Brauchler expressed his discontent with Colorado’s sanctuary laws, suggesting they permit dangerous undocumented immigrants to evade capture. He remarked, “This is a terrible situation that has played out not only in Colorado but nationwide.”
Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) laid the blame for Carpio’s death squarely on Democratic immigration policies, labeling Parra-Corral as a “criminal alien.”
The Colorado GOP voiced concerns about the efficacy of state immigration enforcement and its influence on public safety, with Boebert declaring, “The sanctuary policies in Colorado facilitated the presence of this criminal alien in our state. It is the Democrats who are accountable for the loss of a 27-year-old woman’s life by allowing her killer into the country unlawfully.”
