Tom Brady, the NFL legend, faced a whole new level of challenge in 2024 when he decided to let comedians and celebs give him the ultimate roast.
During a recent appearance on “The Big Podcast with Shaq,” Brady shared that he wasn’t upset by any of the jokes. He understood the risks when he signed up for the roast, mentioning that he had discussed the idea with comedian Jeff Ross three years prior.
Brady explained his mindset by saying, “No, I wasn’t mad. A lot of people, including me, actually enjoy being teased. When someone makes fun of you, it shows they’re comfortable around you. If they joke about you, you know you’re really friends. It’s those who never poke fun that have me wondering, is this for real?” He then contrasted it with the lively banter often seen in a locker room: “In the locker room, making fun of each other is just a part of life. I’ve joked around with Gronk, Julian, and the whole crew. The cool part about the roast was knowing that all those guys, they’re basically family.”
However, Brady admitted that while he took the jokes in stride, he had some worries before the event. Back in May, he voiced a bit of “regret” as he knew some of the jokes were tough on his kids because they poked fun at their mothers, Bridget Moynahan and Gisele Bündchen. “They’re protective of their mom, of their dad, of everybody. They kept asking, ‘What was the point of that? Why did you do that?’ It’s a learning experience, that’s for sure,” he noted during another interview on “IMPAULSIVE.”
