Recent developments on the case of Haymanut Kasau are raising eyebrows, as police shared they have not discovered any connections between her missing persons case and an individual captured this month for allegedly trying to abduct another young Ethiopian-Israeli girl.

A statement made to the Rishon Lezion Magistrate’s Court, suggests that the possibility of a relationship between Haymanut’s case—stemming from nearly two years ago in a Safed absorption center—and the suspect has been dismissed, as reported by Hebrew media.

In the meantime, allegations against the 63-year-old suspect related to the kidnapping in Beersheba continue to grow.

The man is accused of attempting to abduct a little girl from her home while her parents were absent, and authorities are investigating additional claims of assault and indecent acts against him. His detention has been extended for another three days.

The girl involved in this attempted kidnapping was actually a former resident of the very same absorption center in Safed that Haymanut disappeared from, until her relocation earlier this year. She shared her experience with Haaretz, mentioning that her alleged kidnapper was not only a neighbor but was also acquainted with her parents back in Safed before he moved south to Beersheba.

This young girl, whose name has not been disclosed for privacy reasons, detailed the events of the attempted abduction that occurred earlier this month, saying the man entered her apartment, took a seat on the couch, then proceeded to inappropriately touch her and attempt to hold her hand.

Fortunately, she managed to escape by darting towards the door, yelling for help and capturing the attention of nearby neighbors who subsequently called the police.
