Ryan Seacrest is opening up about a challenging time for his family as his father, Gary, battles prostate cancer. In a recent episode of his radio show, On Air With Ryan Seacrest, he shared the emotional journey they’ve been on together.
Although he usually shares the good moments with his family—his mom, Constance, and sister, Meredith—Ryan revealed that his father’s health struggle has been a deeply personal battle. It’s something he kept private for a while. However, he felt it was essential to let his fans in on the reality of what they’ve faced as a family over the past months.
During an emotional moment on the show, Ryan recalled how things deteriorated when Gary developed pneumonia during his treatment. He described a gripping moment when he received a distressing call from Meredith while he was live on the air, saying, ‘Dad is in the ICU – how fast can you get here?’ He rushed to be at his father’s side, flying straight to Atlanta after the show.
Despite the ongoing challenges of fighting prostate cancer, there have been flickers of hope. Ryan revealed that even though his dad had been confined to a hospital, there have been precious moments shared with his mother. Recently, he received a joyful photo of them at the beach—their smiles providing a heartwarming reminder of their lifelong bond.
“My dad hadn’t left his seat or the house for four and a half months,” Ryan said tearfully, recognizing the small wins they’ve celebrated. “Seeing them enjoy some fresh air, together after 55 years of marriage, was a beautiful sight. He might still be up against cancer, but I remain hopeful. The treatments are tough, but I truly believe he’ll pull through this.”
His followers have shown him tremendous support in the wake of this news. Fans have been pouring out messages of encouragement, wishing for Gary’s recovery and reflecting on the importance of sharing vulnerable stories.
As Ryan goes through this trying time, we are sending him and his family all our love.
