Giapo’s ‘Hot Cross Bun Cone’ Is the Dreamiest Easter Sweet Treat

Giapo’s ‘Hot Cross Bun Cone’ Is the Dreamiest Easter Sweet Treat Hot cross buns are popular in historically Christian countries and eaten on Good Friday to mark the end of Lent (but many eat them through the Easter season). Giapo’s R&D Kitchen in Auckland has created a “Hot Cross Bun Cone,” built with part cone and part bun. The bun, which is served warm, is baked with orange juice-soaked raisins and a blend of cinnamon, clove, and candied orange peel.

Cadbury's milk chocolate Easter Bilby is dead. The company confirmed that the popular Easter snack has been discontinued due to declining sales. Here are the details.

The Easter Bilby is probably Australia's most iconic Easter-themed snack. Available from a variety of manufacturers since the 1930s, it's basically a chocolate Easter egg, except shaped like a bilby, otherwise known as a "rabbit-eared bandicoot".

When purchasing chocolates for Easter , Australian conservationists say choose bilbies , not bunnies. But the chocolate bilby has staked its claim on the springtime candy shelf — an honor that could help the threatened species make a real comeback.

In response to customer queries about the chocolate bilby's availability on its Facebook page, Cadbury issued the following statement: "The Cadbury Easter Bilby will no longer be available to consumers, due to a significant decline in demand."

So there you have it. The Cadbury Bilby is officially no more.

Crucially, many of these companies also donate a portion of sales towards bilby conservation efforts via the RFA. For example, Pink Lady donates 30 cents per chocolate Easter bilby sold.

This is something the Cadbury version made no mention of, although the company did make significant contributions to the Save the Bilby Fund each year. We wonder if that arrangement will persist now that Cadbury's bilby is off the market?
