THIS is the first hotel in the world where the walls are built entirely from salt.

Palacio de Sal in Bolivia is made up from 10,000 tonnes of the stuff and was the brainchild of Juan Quesada Valda.

The unique hotel is the edge of Salar de Uyuni, the world's largest salt flat.

The building was constructed of about 1 million 35-cm (14-inch) salt blocks, which are used for the floor, walls, ceiling and furniture, including beds, tables, chairs and sculptures.

Those who stay there are banned from licking the walls after the hotel was rebuilt.

The hotel boasts 42 rooms and looks like your average hotel – until you find out it is made up from blocks of sodium chloride.
