The 24th Steamfest at Sheffield brings together the largest collection of working steam machinery in the country, and is a mecca for devotees of steampunk style.

Steampunk is science fiction-based but set in a historical period typically featuring steam-powered machinery.

The fashion combines historical elements with technological features inspired by science fiction.

"I actually got my licence in January this year, so I got my ticket to officially drive these things," she said.

"It takes a little while, but every engine is slightly different so its a lot of fun."

She was persuaded to take up the hobby through her family's agricultural background.

"It's bringing a bit of history back. This was farming a few years ago, and it's good to see it still alive and going."

As Steamfest nears its 25th anniversary, the organisers are focused on getting more young people involved.

"A concern for us when we started all those years ago was would young people continue to be interested in this history, in these things from the past?" Mr Martin said.

"Well it is really encouraging seeing all the young faces here having a good time, the community response continues to be fantastic."
