Attempted murder charge in Sydney stabbing A man have been denied bail after allegedly stabbing a man in the neck in Sydney's west on New Year's Eve. Wayne Liu, 61, allegedly stabbed a 44-year-old man before 6pm on Monday, NSW Police said in a statement. Police allege Liu knew his alleged victim. Emergency services found the man bleeding out the front of the home and took him to Liverpool Hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition. Officers arrested Liu at the scene and charged him with wounding with intent to murder, domestic violence assault and stalk/intimidate to cause fear or harm.

The discovery of a possibly suspicious substance inside parcels at the Argentinian consulate prompted a large emergency response in Sydney's CBD.

Fire and Rescue NSW crews arrived at a building on Market Street just before 9.20am on Monday morning and evacuated one floor of the building as a precaution, a Fire and Rescue NSW spokesman said.

Seven crews were on the scene including two specialist HAZMAT crews, who investigated the packages to determine whether the substance inside was hazardous.

Fire crews liaised with police on the scene, before handing over a sample of the substance to police for testing.

A Fire and Rescue NSW spokeswoman said crews left the scene about 10.40 after the building was handed back over to the occupants and medical forms were given to consulate staff who had been potentially exposed to the unknown substance.

Bus driver attacked with knife.
A bus driver has been injured after being attacked with a knife in Sydney’s west. Just after 1.30pm, emergency services were called to Blacktown Railway station where they found the driver, a man in his 30s, with a cut to his ear. Officers from Blacktown Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene. The driver was taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment.
