A nine-year-old girl has been left horrified and her family in shock after their pet sheep was mauled to death by a pack of dogs.

The callous attack unfolded in rural Monto, 500 kilometres north-west of Brisbane, and saw beloved sheep, Kayley, left mutilated beyond recognition.

According to the girl's mother, who lives on a farm and wishes to remain anonymous, the family believe the attack was almost too graphic to capture.
