Trilogy resident Doug Stewart, who the complex's strata group employs as its building manager, said an awning window at the top floor apartment became dislodged from the frame about 5pm on Tuesday, as high winds and heavy rain lashed the capital.

"The chain [which connects the window to the frame] snapped with the high winds. The window was then free to move and it subsequently broke from the frame."

Mr Stewart said it was lucky nobody was struck and killed by the fallen window.

Mr Stewart said he was concerned that other windows in the apartment complex might be vulnerable to similar problems.

"Until the engineer's report comes back, we are concerned that it could be repeated," he said. "We need more information from the builder and the developer."
