One of the suspects involved in a triple shooting at a Melbourne boxing bout has been charged with murder, nearly two weeks after what police have described as an ambush attack.

It comes as a court heard on Tuesday that ongoing rivalry between two groups was at the heart of the chilling shooting.

Abdullah El Nasher and Mikhael Myko were arrested in dramatic scenes in Sydney last Friday night after the pair fled Victoria in the wake of the shooting that killed young father Ben Togiai.

The murder charge comes as Mr Togiai, father to a three-year-old girl, was farewelled at a funeral in Melbourne's north on Tuesday.

Two other men who were with Mr Togiai, including Omar Bchinnati were also shot, but survived.

Mr Myko, 25, was charged with seven offences including intentionally causing serious injury and committing an indictable offence while on bail over the March 1 shooting and faced court in Melbourne on Tuesday.

Two days after Mr Togiai's death, Mitat Rasimi's body was found with gunshot wounds after his car crashed in Dandenong. On the night of March 4, Ali Ali, 28, and Deniz Hasan, 40, were found dead 500 metres apart in Meadows Heights.

Police are yet to arrest the gunmen responsible for the Dandenong and Meadow Heights shootings.

On Sunday night Winis Apet, 20, was shot dead in Springvale. Paguir Pan, 19, has been charged with murder over Mr Apet's death.

Police say the shootings are not connected.

Mr Myko is expected to return to court for a committal mention on June 4.
