A Perth man has pleaded not guilty to punching a baby outside a pub in Innaloo earlier this month.

Ian Douglas James Gordon, 27, appeared in Perth Magistrates Court on Monday charged with endangering the life, health or safety of a person.

Police say Mr Gordon was outside the Saint Hotel in Innaloo when he approached a man in the carpark on Morris Road.

The man had his 10-week-old baby boy strapped to a body baby carrier.

The men exchanged words, and Mr Gordon is alleged to have punched the baby in the head.

The baby received minor injuries, and Mr Gordon was charged over the incident.

A man has denied punching a baby boy in the head after being accused of striking the infant outside a Perth pub earlier this month. He pleaded not guilty in Perth Magistrates’ Court yesterday. Gordon is on bail with several conditions and will face a trial allocation hearing on May 28.

He is due in court again at a later date.
