About 6.15pm on Friday, police were told of a traffic incident in Norman Gardens involving the driver of a vehicle and a bicycle rider, who then became involved in an argument.
The driver allegedly left and returned a short time later when shots were fired towards a house, while the cyclist was inside.
The driver fled on foot and returned in a vehicle where a further two shots were allegedly fired at the residence before he drove away.
Investigations indicate the man allegedly returned a third time and fired another shot at the house.
The 40-year-old cyclist, who was the only person inside the house, was not injured.
A 31-year-old Norman Gardens man has been charged with one count each of unlawful possession of a firearm, dangerous conduct with a weapon and possessing explosives (ammunition).
He is due to appear in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Monday.
