The out-of-control driver narrowly avoided hitting a pedestrian after screeching through a petrol station in Narellan. “The car just came in flying through the bowser, just missed me, and then he hit the pole, got out of the car and drove off erratically,” Riad Almasri told 9News. Moments later the driver smashed his car through the wall of Narellan Library, located up the road from the service station.

A 14-year-old boy charged by police for stealing a car involved in a deadly crash has been shown eating fast food in hospital, giving a gang sign and raising his middle finger.

The images were posted online after the car’s front seat passenger Jacob Hopkins, 14, died when it ran a red light, hit another car and slammed into a power pole in Rothwell, north of Brisbane, on Wednesday.

The alleged driver also posted a Facebook tribute to Jacob.

“RIP JACOB my brother I can't believe I did this ...I shoulder (sic) stopped at the light....I'm sorry it had to end this way.... I send me love to family and friends you's (sic) can hate me but it's not gonna change anything.”

There was also support for the alleged driver.

His mother wrote: "Keep your head up mate, it was a tragic accident, you didn't know this was gonna (sic) happen."

Jacob’s family told 9News they are outraged about the photos, particularly as they were posted online so soon after the crash.

“Twelve and 14-year-olds out driving stolen cars. What does this tell you about our society,” Queensland Police Commissioner Ian Stewart told 9News.

Jacob’s family is now trying to raise money for his funeral and a commemorative plaque at the crash site on Anzac Avenue in Rothwell.

Floral tributes to Jacob have been left at the scene over the past few days.

'The truck driver violated the traffic law. The truck kept going when it (the traffic light) was already red', Adi said, reported by the Daily Telegraph.
