Woman fights knife-wielding thief who threatened teen girl at home A woman has boldly taken on a burglar who threatened a teenage girl with a knife and tried to steal a guitar, sending the would-be thief packing empty-handed. Police said the offender entered a home on Murray Street in Preston between 9am and 9.30am on Sunday, where he confronted a 14-year-old girl. He grabbed a knife and demanded valuables from the teenager, before fleeing the house with a guitar. But he didn't get far before he encountered another female family member outside the home. He assaulted the woman, but she fought back and managed to prise back the guitar.

"I didn't know what was going on up there it was completely out of character," Ms Watkins said.

Police tried to negotiate with the father-of-two who was described as being in an emotional state.
