Dawn raids on a number of properties around Hobart this morning involving over 100 officers have netted firearms, drugs and a vehicle police believe is relevant to the shooting murder of a young father in April.

The early morning execution of Operation Gold involved Drug Investigation Services officers, supported by general and specialist police forcibly entering premises, including one police said was "fortified".

"As a result of entry to one of the premises, a man received an injury to the buttocks and is currently receiving medical treatment at the Royal Hobart Hospital," police said.

A sniffer dog was brought in to search one of the locations, an industrial shed in Moonah, north of Hobart.

"As a result of the investigation, and searches conducted, three men aged 34, 31 and 29 from Claremont, Bridgewater and Glenorchy respectively have been arrested and detained in custody for trafficking in a controlled substance," police said in a statement.

"A 29-year-old male associate from Bridgewater and a 22-year-old female associate from Gagebrook, have also been arrested and detained."

Police said Operation Gold "recovered" three firearms — "two stolen and one homemade" — and the "seizure of approximately $80,000 worth of illicit drugs (amphetamine and cannabis) and a significant amount of cash totalling more than $25,000".

"Individuals or groups who choose to fortify their premises in order to conceal their criminal activities can expect police attention," Detective Inspector Kate Chambers said.

During the searches, a white Holden Commodore wagon which police say they believe has relevance to the investigation into the shooting death of Jarrod Leigh Turner at Colebrook on 14 April this year was removed from a Moonah premises.

Mr Turner, 22, was fatally shot and his body was found dumped on the side of a road.

The firearm involved in the alleged murder is yet to be recovered.

Shannon Duffy, 30, has pleaded not guilty to Mr Turner's murder and is in custody awaiting trial.
