A pedestrian is fighting for life in hospital after he was struck by a vehicle on the Gold Coast.

Police were called to Bermuda Street at Burleigh Waters about 8.30pm on Friday after the 23-year-old was trying to cross the street with another man but was hit by a Holden Caprice.

The pedestrian from Currumbin Waters was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

The driver was helping police with their inquiries as investigations continue.
