Police have responded to a hoax call at a Darwin hotel next door to the motel targeted by alleged shooter two weeks ago.

An emergency caller claimed an offender was armed at the Alatai Motel at 6pm on Monday.

The motel is next to the Palm Motel, where Hassan Baydoun was shot and killed two weeks ago, and a 23-year-old woman was shot in the leg.

Tactical Response and other police personnel attended the scene.

A witness told Nine News officers searched each level of the building before “bashing in a door.”

Hoax caller claims shooter at Darwin hotel next door to motel where man was shot dead . Police have responded to a hoax call at a Darwin hotel next door to the motel targeted by alleged shooter two weeks ago.

“They were banging on a door and you could hear the guy inside say ‘I’m trying to sleep.” Alatai resident, Leah Potter told 9News.

Ms Potter, who also witnessed the alleged shooting two weeks ago, said the incident was “too soon.”

“I came out into the car park to leave, and police told me they were looking for someone,” she said.

“It’s just a bit scary. Too soon for us.”

Police confirmed the area was safe and no offender was on the premises.

“We took it very seriously,” an officer told 9News.

Police are now investigating the origins of the call.

The incident comes just two weeks after a gunman allegedly killed four people and injured another during an hour long shooting rampage across Darwin.
