Emergency services are currently on scene after a car crashed through a fence and on to a business roof in Sydney’s Inner West this afternoon.
Police and paramedics were called to John Street, Leichhardt just after 3pm after reports a car was perched on the roof of Raffan, Kelaher and Thomas Auctioneers.
The building was evacuated and business owner Phillip Thomas told 9News that no one inside the building was injured and they all escaped as soon as they heard the loud bang.
"As soon as it happened we followed the evacuation plan we have in place," Mr Thomas told 9News.
Car crashes into home injuring boy
A teenage boy was injured when a four-wheel-drive smashed into a family home in Adelaide. Police say the crash at 9pm last night was part of a domestic incident on Willowbrook Place, in Paralowie, in the city’s north. A mother and her two children were inside the house when the vehicle crashed through the lounge room’s brick wall. The crash caused major damage, while paramedics took the 14-year-old boy to hospital with minor injuries. He remains in a stable condition at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Adelaide. “It was a huge impact and there were kids screaming.
"Fifteen minutes earlier, one of our staff was working virtually underneath where the car landed."
Mr Thomas said while it has been a concern for him having the road and fence in that location, this is the first time in his knowledge a car has crashed through it. It is unclear how many people were inside the car or if any of them received any injuries.
The car landed on a steel beam, but authorities have warned no one can re-enter the building until further notice.
Crews have gained access to the vehicle and the area has been taped off.
More to come.
