A motorcyclist has died in a crash involving a dual-cab ute on a highway in the rural suburb of Wanora, west of Brisbane this morning.

Paramedics responded to the scene on the Brisbane Valley Highway shortly before 5.30am.

A 52-year-old Boronia Heights man riding the motorbike died at the scene, while the driver of the ute, a 43-year-old man from Glamorgan Vale, was freed by emergency crews and taken to Ipswich Hospital in a stable condition.

The highway is closed in both directions at the intersection of Wanora Road.

Delays are expected and motorists are being diverted along Glamorgan Vale and Pine Mountain Road.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
