Woman dies after being hit by truck in West Melbourne A female pedestrian has been left with life threatening injuries after being hit by a truck in Melbourne. Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Victoria Street and Peel Street just after noon. © 9News A shoe and some grocery shopping lie beneath the wheel of the truck. Police believe the truck was turning left into Peel Street when it struck the woman, who is yet to be identified. The woman was taken to hospital but has since died from her injuries. The driver of the truck stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their investigations.

Two of three southbound lanes of the M 1 were closed after the car and truck collided about 5.20am, leaving the car flipped onto its roof. While the crash site has since been cleared and all lanes reopened shortly after 7am, traffic remains heavy on both the M 1 and Pacific Highway.

It's a painful Monday morning commute from Sydney's northern suburbs to the city after a crash between a truck and car on the M1 at Wahroonga.

Two of three southbound lanes of the M1 were closed after the car and truck collided about 5.20am, leaving the car flipped onto its roof.

One person was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital, a police spokeswoman said.

The crash site in the upper north shore has since been cleared and all lanes reopened shortly after 7am, but traffic remains very heavy with queues up to 16km long on the M1.
