Man 'bashed woman, shaved her hair off' A man will face court over alleged domestic violence-related assaults that left a woman with a shaved head, broken ribs and vertebrae. The woman was walking her dogs — a shih tzu and a terrier cross — in Williamstown cemetery when she was approached from behind by a man about 8:30pm on June 29.

The man pushed the woman to the ground and attempted to pull her pants down, police said.

The woman's dogs attacked the man, who ran off towards KC White Reserve on Park Crescent.

The woman ran home and contacted police, who set up a crime scene at the cemetery and forensically examined the area.

Police are appealing for information on the incident as they hunt the attacker.

"We know people congregate at the cemetery at night so we are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the assault or may have been in the area at the time," Detective Senior Constable Jenna Sladek said.

The man is described as having a large build, and was wearing a black puffer jacket and white beanie.
